At the 118th International Airlines Technical Pool (IATP) Conference held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on October 5-10, Shenzhen Airlines officially became a member of the organization with unanimous approval in a vote. The maintenance support capability of Shenzhen Airlines at overseas terminals will be enhanced greatly.
Zha Fan, director of the Route Maintenance Center of Shenzhen Airlines’ Maintenance and Engineering Department, led his team to participate in the conference. During the conference, talks were held on route technology and aviation materials support with delegations from Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Qantas Airways (QANTAS), Japan Airlines, SIA Engineering Company Limited, Lufthansa Technik and others.
With the continuous expansion of the overseas route network of Shenzhen Airlines in recent years, the opening of its intercontinental route is on the horizon, bringing increasing pressure on the maintenance support at overseas terminals. After joining the IATP, the service sharing of network resources will help open up a new channel of support for Shenzhen Airlines, and effectively enhance its operational support capability at overseas terminals.
As an international organization composed of over 100 airlines around the world, the IATP provides resource sharing for its member airlines at the terminals where their flights operate, including route technical support, mutual assistance in aviation materials, international rescue and other resources. The unified rules, settlement, resource sharing and mutual benefit adopted under the organization have reduced the maintenance cost at the international terminal for each company, and improved the support capability. This operation mode of resource and cost sharing has minimized the possibility of redundant resource allocation and improved the utilization rate of resources allocated by the IATP members into each terminal, which not only reduced the operating costs, but also enhanced the comprehensive support capability at the terminals, playing an active role in the normal operation of international flights.
